Caged Bird Doll

$320.00

I Know Why the Cage Bird Sing, a book by author and poet Dr. Maya Angelou is one of my favorite authors. The title comes from an African-American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem Sympathy. I first read her book in middle school then again during my college years. We are all created with gifts, talents, and purpose. Sometimes we find ourselves in a cage circumstance, be it fear, bad decisions, or doubt. Don't lose your song. I can often be found humming during the day. It is my private praise service with God. It encourages me and calms my spirit, and like that caged bird, I am ready to take flight.

I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,

when his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,

when he beat his bars and would be free;

It is not a carol of joy or glee,

But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings-

I know why the cage bird sings
